CONWAY, SC– Beginning in July, Conway Medical Center’s (CMC) Sleep Disorders Center will start offering A.W.A.K.E. Sleep Disorders Support Group to be held the third Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m. in the private dining rooms at CMC.
A.W.A.K.E., which stands for Alert Wellness and Keeping Energetic, is sponsored by the American Sleep Apnea Association. The support group is for those who suffer from sleep apnea and its purpose is to give them the tools to manage their own health successfully. The group works by: combating isolation, providing patients with information and a chance to digest it and presents opportunities to think out problems and ask questions. Each meeting includes a speaker and a support segment. According to the National Sleep Foundation, sleep apnea affects more than 18 million Americans.
The first meeting will be a kick-off, held at noon on July 15 in the CMC Administration Building Auditorium. Lunch will be included and participants can meet with vendors and CMC Sleep Disorders Center staff. Moving forward, all meetings will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the private dining rooms at CMC.
CMC’s Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. For more information or to register call 843-234-5166.
