CONWAY, SC– Last month, Conway Medical Center (CMC) honored two employees for their valuable contributions to CMC. Cindy Pacheo, RN from the Emergency Department and Bernietha Ham from Food and Nutrition were recognized as CMC’s “Starfish of the Year”. This award is given to two CMC staff members, one clinical and one nonclinical, who personifies service excellence by going above and beyond for CMC’s patients and families.
Cindy Pacheco, RN has been employed with CMC for six years and currently works as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department. She has been instrumental in precepting EMS and RN students as well as serving as relief charge nurse. Steve Lanning, RN, director of Emergency Services says, “Even though Cindy has had hardship in her life she has not missed a day of work and takes great accountability of herself and taking care of what is important to her. She is a tremendous asset to the Emergency Department team.”
Bernietha Ham works in Food and Nutrition has been at CMC for six years. She is currently a cafeteria grill cook, but performs duties in all aspects of the dietary department such as caterer, tray line, cold production and cashier. “Bernietha goes above and beyond to put out a quality product in the cafeteria and knows what the regular customers like to eat. It is a great pleasure working with her on a daily basis,” states Rick Wendland, director of Food Services.
Both Pacheo and Ham were quarterly winners of “Starfish of the Quarter” in 2014 and chosen as the yearly winners from that collective group. The following employees were Starfish of the Quarter for 2013: Danielle Hucks from Radiology, Lonnie Peavy from General Accounting, Wendy Causey from Fiscal Services, Stephanie Jones from Kingston Nursing Center, Debra Klock from Patient Accounting, Jamie Gaston, RN from Wound Care and Hope McClellen from Radiology .
