Childbirth Class- February 28, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Conway Medical Center holds childbirth classes every month on specific Saturdays. You should begin your childbirth classes during your 7th or 8th month of pregnancy. Class content will include anatomy/physiology, stages of labor, pain management, breathing/relaxation techniques, postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn topics. Contact Number- 843-347-8108
Breastfeeding Class –February 3, 7-9 p.m. All classes are held monthly in Private Dining Room #2 located in the hospital and are free of charge. Taught by a registered nurse who is also a Lactation Consultant, classes are open to those expecting as well as those who have already delivered their baby. AARP Smart Driver – February 17, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Conway Medical Center has joined with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) to offer a Smart Driver course. This six-hour refresher course, taught in one six-hour class, is designed especially to meet the needs of drivers 50 years of age or older. Held at CMC Wellness & Fitness Center. Quit Smart– February 10, 24 & 26, 10-11:30 a.m. A three session smoking cessation class to help you quit smoking. The Quit Smart program will show you how to ease off nicotine using a unique brand-fading procedure and show you other methods of quitting which will multiply your chances of success. Chair Yoga- February 2-26, Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8-8:45 a.m. This yoga class will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Let’s Play Racquetball- February 16-27, Monday, Wednesday and Friday at either 10:30-11 a.m. or 6:30-7:15 p.m. Classes will offer instruction on rules, various techniques, practicing and competing while getting in a fun workout. CX60 with Calvin – February 2-25, Mondays & Wednesdays at 9-10 a.m. CX60 consists of advanced group training that uses free weights, body weight, TRX and other exercise equipment to strengthen and tone and increase flexibility. Wakeup Call with Calvin- February 3-26, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:15-6 a.m. This early morning workout designed for the early riser to boost metabolism with TRX, body weight, dumbbell, and medicine ball exercises. Ladies Night Out “Women & Weights: Lose the Fear to Lose Fat”- Now-February 12, Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:45-7:45 p.m. Class is specifically designed for women to encourage mental and physical growth through education and motivation. This class will provide women with the skills needed to successfully lift weights in the weight room feeling confident and accomplished. The proper techniques for basic lifts will be taught, along with learning which muscle groups to train and when to train them. You will take away knowledge about muscle and skeletal physiology, as well as basic nutritional tips to maximize results of training. Cost- $80 for members & Community- $120.
