CONWAY, SC– As of June 1, Conway Medical Center will not require a physician’s order for a screening mammogram at CMC’s Center for Breast Health. CMC is one of the first hospitals in the region to offer this convenient service.
Patients must be 40 years old or above, currently having no symptoms or problems, and due for a regular annual screening. Patients can call CMC scheduling directly at 843-234-5474 to schedule their annual screening.
“A mammogram can save a woman’s life. We want women in our community to have no excuse why they can’t get their annual mammogram. So, not requiring a doctor’s order is another way we are eliminating barriers to help make getting a mammogram easier,” says Amy Thorn, CMC’s Breast Health Navigator.
CMC’s Center for Breast Health has the designation of Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence by the National Consortium of Breast Centers (NCBC) National Quality Measures for Breast Centers (NQMBC) program. The Center for Breast Health offers digital mammography services, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and breast biopsy procedures. Appointments are offered between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. CMC Foundation also offers financial assistance for uninsured or underinsured individuals.
