CONWAY, SC– On July 24, Conway Medical Center will hold a Safe Sitter® class from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This is the last class offered for the summer.

Safe Sitter® is a medically-accurate instruction series that teaches boys and girls ages 11-13 how to handle emergencies when caring for young children.  Safe Sitters® learn basic life saving techniques, safety precautions to prevent accidents, how and when to summon for help, and tips on basic child care.

In January of 2012, Safe Sitter® released a new curriculum that has been updated to follow the latest guidelines of the American Heart Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. The new curriculum covers the issue of technology and how it impact sitter safety. Babysitters learn about making wise decisions when it comes to cell phone and internet usage.

Conway Medical Center has been offering Safe Sitter® classes for 21 of years and has trained over 420 students. Stacey Mott, Healthreach Educator with Conway Medical Center says, “Babysitters have a lot of responsibility. It’s our goal to have them as prepared as possible and ready to handle any situation they may face when they are taking care of young children.”

Cost of the class is $50. For more information or to register please call 843-234-5019.
