Conway Medical Center’s HEALTHREACH program has been a vital part of the community since 1997. The hospital is proud to announce that through donations to the CMC Foundation, a new van has been purchased. This custom-designed van allows the hospital to provide free screenings and education for the medically underserved population of Horry.
HEALTHREACH has also operated an outreach program called “Smart Snacks,” since 2005. “Smart Snacks” provides healthy weekend snacks for K-5 students and their siblings who qualify for the federal subsidized lunch program. Smart Snacks serves 725 children at four schools and has provided over $216,000 in provisions for children in Horry County. The total funding for this year’s Smart Snacks program is projected to be at least $51,200. The CMC Foundation underwrites the expense of the food through donations.
The community is invited to come out and tour the new HEALTHREACH van on Monday, November 5 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the CMC Administrative Building. The new van will be officially unveiled at 2 p.m. Attendees are invited to get their blood pressure checked, enjoy refreshments, collect education on providing better healthcare for themselves and bring in a box of Capri Sun and get a FREE flu shot! (While supplies last)
Also, during the week of November 4-11, Conway Medical Center Foundation and area Food Lion stores are kicking off, “Together, We Can Fill the Van” Capri Sun Drive. Interested persons are being asked to donate a box of Capri Sun for the “Smart Snacks” program. With these collections enough money can be saved to feed an additional 126 students!

Purchase Capri Sun at any of the following Food Lion stores and deposit in the special drop boxes located there:

o Hwy 544
o Hwy 501 East
Drop off Capri Sun boxes at the CMC front visitors lobby
Encourage your workplace or organization to collect Capri Sun and contact the CMC Foundation at 843-347-8058 to pick up
