Dr. Todd Williams, Radiation Oncologist with Carolina Regional Cancer Center, will discuss on April 23, 12 noon at Conway Medical Center Private Dining Room 2 and 3, one of the biggest advances in radiation therapy in the last 20 years – IMRT or Intensity Modulated Radiation Treatment. IMRT is an advanced form of three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy. It actually shapes the radiation dose distribution to the contour of a tumor. This allows for higher, more effective doses of radiation to be delivered to the tumor while sparing the surrounding normal tissue.
