An estimated 86 million Americans have prediabetes, and 90 percent of them don't know they have it. Prediabetes can lead to type 2 diabetes and its many serious complications. It's crucial for people to know their risk because prediabetes can be reversed with healthy food choices, weight loss, exercise, other lifestyle changes and medication. American Diabetes Association Alert Day® encourages everyone to take the Type 2 Diabetes Risk Test – Click here and take the test today
If you have any questions about your test results, please contact our Diabetes Educator at 843-347-8013.
When you first find out you have diabetes, or are borderline diabetic, you are likely to have many questions about the best way to manage this disease and stay healthy. Conway Medical Center offers a Diabetic Self-Management Training (DSMT) program. DSMT is designed to help those diagnosed with diabetes make better lifestyle choices to manage their disease and prevent complications.
CMC's Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) program serves the increasing demands of the Conway area and surrounding communities of Horry County for diabetes prevention and education. We offer diabetes education as individual or group classes upon physician order. We'll teach you self-management skills so you can make your own healthy decisions and prevent complications from diabetes. Our diabetes education program is taught by a diabetes nurse educator, and is recognized by the American Association of Diabetes Educators as meeting the national standards for diabetes education.
Services provided by the program include:
- Individual assessment and one-one consultation with a diabetes nurse educator
