Long Term Care

The Eden Tree When you walk through the front door of Kingston Nursing Center you know you have entered a very special place. A park and aviary greet you first followed by an alleyway where the River’s Edge Restaurant and the bank and post office are located. Just beyond the glass doors a courtyard invites you to take a pleasant stroll in the sunshine.

That’s just the beginning. We have four neighborhoods designed to provide care for our eighty eight residents. To the west you will find Ocean Boulevard and Medstar Marina. The East side houses Care Lane and Hummingbird Lane. These neighborhoods are made up of care partners and residents who work together to make life worth living. A special focus on each resident while providing “home” sets Kingston Nursing Center apart from other skilled nursing care facilities. A warm pleasant community of care welcomes individuals in need of our services. This community makes its residents or elders feel welcome and well known.

Rooms with gracious views, rooms for couples, especially designed for privacy and companionship, offer a home away from home. Residents are encouraged to surround themselves with personal items....photos, books, a favorite chair...making their rooms comfortable and personal. Residents enjoy the relationships provided by their care partners, plants, animals, and children. Residents may also enjoy the outdoor courtyard and raised gardens to watch birds, enjoy flowers, and feel the healing light of the afternoon sun with family and friends. A greenhouse and gardens welcome those who enjoy horticultural activities.

Kingston Nursing Center's care partners include specialists in nursing, rehabilitation, nutrition, social services, activities, environmental services, and geriatric medical care. Our care partner team works together with each resident and family to enable them to learn and grow while living in a home that values their individuality. Personal life routines are honored in our home and residents are provided with many opportunities to exercise their ability to choose. Our care partners work in a neighborhood on a permanent basis thus allowing relationships to grow and flourish between care partners and residents.

Community members and volunteers are invited to join in or provide activities for our residents. Our residents enjoy outings to the community for plays, movies, shopping, and recreation. Spontaneity and variety rule the lives of our residents who are involved in the creation of monthly activity calendars and who regularly participate in unplanned events and games either on their own or with the assistance of their care partners.

Located across the street from Conway Medical Center, one of the finest non-profit medical facilities in the Southeast, Kingston Nursing Center has immediate access to physicians, emergency, and acute care whenever necessary.

A Comment from One of Our Family Members…

A father of one of our younger residents said,

“…what makes Kingston special originates from its purposes and resides in its staff dedicated and devoted to that purpose. Every member of that staff – full-time, or part-time, or volunteer – is proud to boast that “We are not like every other nursing home. We are an Eden Alternative home, and we do things differently. And indeed they do!”

Kingston Nursing Center is a member of the AHCA, AAHSA, and is on the Eden Alternative registry.
