Kingston Nursing Center is an 88-bed facility offering Long Term Care and Subacute Care (Medstar).
Kingston Nursing Center is a special place. As you enter the center, a park and aviary greet you followed by an alleyway where the River’s Edge Restaurant, the bank and post office are located. Just beyond the glass doors a courtyard invites you to take a pleasant stroll in the sunshine.
That’s just the beginning. We have four neighborhoods designed to provide care for our eighty-eight residents. To the west you will find Ocean Boulevard and Medstar Marina. The East side houses Care Lane and Hummingbird Lane. These neighborhoods are made up of care partners and residents who work together to make life worth living.
Our care partner team works together with each resident and family to enable them to learn and grow while living in a home that values their individuality. Personal life routines are honored in our home and residents are provided with many opportunities to exercise their ability to choose. Our care partners work in a neighborhood on a permanent basis thus allowing relationships to grow and flourish between care partners and residents.
Community members and volunteers are invited to join in or provide activities for our residents. Our residents enjoy outings to the community for plays, movies, shopping, and recreation. Spontaneity and variety rule the lives of our residents who are involved in the creation of monthly activity calendars and who regularly participate in unplanned events and games either on their own or with the assistance of their care partners.
Kingston Nursing Center’s care partners specialize in the following:
- Social Services
- Enrichment (social services/activities)
- Environmental Services
- Geriatric medical care
Our care partner team works together with each resident and family to enable them to learn and grow while living in a home that values their individuality.
A special focus on each resident while providing “home” sets Kingston Nursing Center apart from other skilled nursing care facilities. A warm pleasant community of care welcomes individuals in need of our services. This community makes its residents or elders feel welcome and well known.
Since 2000, Kingston Nursing Center has been listed on the Eden Alternative Registry, which lets everyone know of its dedication to making things different. “The Eden Alternative seeks to eliminate the plagues of the long-term care institution: loneliness, helplessness, and boredom. Companion animals, the opportunity to care for living things and the variety and spontaneity that mark an enlivened environment can succeed where pills and therapies fail.” For more information about the Eden Alternative, please visit www.edenalt.com. Kingston Nursing Center is also a member of the AHCA and AAHSA.
Nutrition specialists prepare meals to individual dietary specification and choice. Residents dine in a large, conveniently located dining room known as the River’s Edge Restaurant or, if they prefer, in the privacy of their rooms. Residents’ family members are invited to stop by for a complimentary meal soon after admission and to share special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries with their loved ones.
Rooms with gracious views, rooms for couples, especially designed for privacy and companionship, offer a home away from home. Residents are encouraged to surround themselves with personal items…. photos, books, a favorite chair…making their rooms comfortable and personal. Residents enjoy the relationships provided by their care partners, plants, animals, and children. Residents may also enjoy the outdoor courtyard and raised gardens to watch birds, enjoy flowers, and feel the healing light of the afternoon sun with family and friends. A greenhouse and gardens welcome those who enjoy horticultural activities.
