On Tuesday, June 25, Conway Medical Center (CMC) and Healthreach will hold a Safe Sitter® class from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The class will be held at the CMC Rehabilitation Services Building.
Safe Sitter® is a national training program that prepares young adolescents to be safe in unsupervised settings, whether home alone, watching younger siblings or babysitting. The class teaches adolescents how to handle crises, how to keep their charges secure, and how to nurture and guide a young child. During the full day course, Safe Sitters® learn basic life saving techniques, safety precautions to prevent accidents, how and when to summon for help, and tips on basic child care. Participants will also learn additional skills of babysitting as a business, success on the job, preventing problem behavior and behavior management.
The Safe Sitter® class is offered to adolescents who are 11 to 14 years old. The fee for the class is $50 and registration is required.
