Benjamin White, MD, FACS, is a native of South Carolina, attending Clemson University for undergraduate and the Medical University of South Carolina for medical school. Dr. White stayed in Charleston at MUSC for general surgery residency, where he was fortunate to learn from some of the best GI surgeons in the country. Continuing his subspecialty training and pursuing his interest in combining GI surgery with rapidly evolving technology and techniques, Dr. White completed one of the most prestigious Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowships in the country at the University of Virginia, prior to coming back home to South Carolina to start his practice.
Dr. White is board certified by the American Board of Surgery, and actively engaged in the leadership of the national organization of bariatric surgeons. He has authored numerous papers and book chapters on robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, and surgery of the upper GI tract. His areas of clinical focus include surgical management of morbid obesity and metabolic syndrome, treatment of hiatal hernias and acid reflux disease, and minimally invasive general surgery. Dr. White also has a particular interest in challenging clinical cases managing complications and revisions of prior bariatric procedures and bringing the top-quality surgical subspecialty care typically reserved for academic surgery departments to our community.
