CMC Foundation has a successful Inaugural Tennis Classic
Beating Cancer. Game. Set. Match
It was a picture-perfect day for tennis on the Grand Strand. A day where players became legends, friendships were forged, and over $43,000 was raised in memory of Lynn Stevens and in support of CMC cancer care in our community. While trophies were awarded to our top competitors, it was clear that we were all champions that day.
Two years in the making, thanks to the global pandemic, the CMC Tennis Classic was spearheaded by Delan Stevens, CMC Foundation Board Member. Delan understands all too well, the impact a cancer diagnosis has on a family. Delan’s wife, Lynn, passed away after a valiant battle with cancer. “The things we can do with the money raised are invaluable. Cancer is an ugly thing and affects lots and lots of families and to see all these people contributing and making a difference in these families lives, it’s just wonderful.”
Our 56 players were treated to a delicious breakfast from Café Gelato, a nutritious lunch from Jimmy Johns, afternoon beverages, and the highlight of the day, our exhibition match featuring Coastal Carolina men and women’s tennis players against the pros of The Dunes Tennis Club.
Thank you to our sponsors, Merrill Lynch, J&K Furnishings, CRG Homes, Jimmy Johns, and more, for your generous contributions to our tennis classic. Funds raised from the CMC Tennis Classic will support our mobile mammography unit, transportation for cancer patients to and from treatments, assistance with patient bills, and so much more. We look forward to announcing the details for our 2023 classic in the months to come.
