Fellowship trained in Hip and Knee orthopaedic surgery at Indiana University Health

Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery

Dr. Christian J. Eccles completed his undergraduate education at Weber State University in his hometown of Ogden, Utah.  He graduated summa cum laude and was able to dissect cadavers and teach other students anatomy in the lab for two years.  He went on to earn his medical degree from Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed a 5-year Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.  After residency, he underwent additional training in an Adult Reconstruction Fellowship and was able to learn under national hip and knee replacement experts at Indiana University in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Eccles specializes in hip and knee replacements, including complex primary and revision joint replacements.  He has authored many publications including a book chapter, earned multiple research awards, and has presented research at various national conferences. He has an interest in outpatient and fast recovery total joint replacements, limiting postoperative pain and narcotic use, and using state-of-the-art technology (robotics and computer-navigation) to achieving maximal patient satisfaction.

Dr. Eccles provides the highest quality of care for his patients and their individual needs.  He provides both non-operative and operative options for patients and educates them as they make their own decisions to improve their quality of life.  His main goal is to get his patients back to activities that arthritic pain prevents them from participating in.

As a young boy, he earned his Eagle Scout award in the Boy Scouts of America.  He also speaks Spanish which he learned while living in Panama for two years on a volunteer mission right after high school.

In his time away from work, Dr. Eccles and his wife, Samantha, enjoy spending time with their two young children at the beach.  He enjoys golf, riding his bike, target shooting, and crafting BBQ on his smoker.
