Christopher Ward, MD,
Digestive Health
Gastroenterology
Dr. Christopher Ward trained in both Australia and the United States, completing his medical degree in Melbourne before completing Internal Medicine and Chief Residency at Brown University, and then finishing his gastroenterology specialty training at Lahey Clinic in Boston. His advanced training in endoscopy gives him extensive experience with both routine digestive concerns and complex procedures.
Following completion of a standard 3 year fellowship in gastroenterology, Dr. Ward spent an additional year training in advanced endoscopic procedures. He received extensive training in Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS).
These procedures allow him to perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions on the major papilla, common bile duct, and pancreas. This includes removal of large polyps, biopsy, and stenting of the bile duct with cholangioscopes, lithotripsy for treatment of large stones, drainage and sampling of pancreatic cysts and fluid collections, diagnosis and treatment of Barrett's esophagus, and stenting and drainage of the gallbladder. In addition to these advanced procedures, Dr. Ward also treats general GI conditions, manages GI bleeding, and performs routine endoscopies, screening colonoscopies, and office consultations.
What sets Dr. Ward apart is his genuine commitment to staying on top of the latest advances in digestive health. His patients appreciate that he takes time to explain what's happening in clear, straightforward language so you understand your condition and why he's recommending a particular approach. Outside of medicine, Dr. Ward enjoys traveling, staying active through strength training, and watching sports – so he understands how important digestive health is to living the life you want.
