Dr. Desmond Ponder completed his undergraduate education at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He later earned his medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine now located in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Prior to medical school, Dr. Ponder worked as an Emergency Department Technician and Patient Access Representative for 5 years at two Metro Atlanta hospitals.

Dr. Ponder is originally from rural Georgia and enjoys serving rural/suburban populations. In his personal time, he and his wife, Jamia, enjoy spending time with his 3 children. Dr. Ponder also coached softball and baseball.
