Public Notice: Application to FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program
Joint Federal, State, Local Public Notice
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) will receive a Horry County application for Conway Medical Center for Federal grant funding through the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs (HMGP) – 4829 Hurricane Helene. Notice is hereby given of FEMA’s consideration to provide funding in the form of a Hazard Mitigation Grant.
The purpose of this project is to address the cause of localized flooding during large rain events — specifically, hurricanes, severe storms, and flash flooding — at the Conway Medical Center (CMC) campus, located at 300 Singleton Ridge Road, Conway, South Carolina, 29526. This hazard mitigation project will reduce the overall risk of flooding to the CMC facilities, thus increasing its operational effectiveness during disaster events, as well as promoting the safety of its patients, patients’ families, and CMC staff. We believe this project is essential to the region’s capacity to provide quality critical care during a disaster event, as CMC was the only hospital in the region that was allowed by Governor McMaster to remain open during Hurricane Florence.
Horry County will be responsible for facilitating and monitoring the proposed project. Interested persons may direct any comments or questions to Jennifer Maddox at 843.347.8078 or Jennifer.Maddox@cmc-sc.com. Comments must be received within 15 days of this notice.
