Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Conway Medical Center’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is dedicated to getting you in better physical condition, so you can live a happier, healthier life. Complete with the most modern equipment available in the area, patients are afforded the best opportunity to achieve their desired goals and recover to a higher degree of health. Each cardiac rehab patient has a program specifically designed according to his or her abilities and interests. The program has a wide variety of cardiovascular and strength training equipment for people with different needs.

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation team consists of Registered Nurses, and Exercise Specialists, Dietitian, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, Medical doctor and your Referring Physician who work closely with each patient to improve their health and knowledge of cardiac disease.

Your active participation in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program can provide:

  • Lower blood pressure, cholesterol, body fat and stress
  • Occupational support to assist with the transition back to work
  • Education to reduce risk factors associated with heart disease
  • Emotional support to you and your family
  • Improvement in quality of life for you and your family
  • Motivation to continue to exercise and promote your wellness

Cardiac Rehabilitation sessions are held three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, for up to three months in the Rehabilitation Services Building which is directly across from CMC Emergency Department, formally the Wellness & Fitness Center, which follows guidelines set forth by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR).

A physician referral is required to participate in our cardiac rehabilitation program. If you are interested ask your physician how the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program can help you in your recovery.

Supervised Exercise Therapy

Supervised Exercise Therapy (SET) is a program for patients diagnosed with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) and have pain with walking caused by blockages in the peripheral arteries.  Patients will work closely with Registered Nurses, exercise physiologists, dietitians and stress management counselors to build their individualized SET program.  Walking is the primary exercise in the SET program.  Increasing walking speed and grade over time promotes peripheral circulation and endurance.  In addition to the supervised exercise, SET also assists patients with implementing lifestyle modifications in order to reduce risk factors for PAD and other diseases.

The benefits of participating in a SET program include:

  • Improved exercise tolerance
  • More stamina
  • Better quality of life
  • Reduced probability of having a cardiac event
  • Increased circulation

To participate in SET a physician referral is required. SET is covered by Medicare and most insurers* for 36 visits. Our cardiac rehabilitation self-pay program is available for those who want to continue to exercise at our facility.
