Your clinical journey begins here
Welcome to Conway Medical Center’s Graduate Medical Education program for Campbell University medical students! As a third or fourth-year student, you’re about to experience clinical rotations in one of the most beautiful and supportive learning environments the Southeast has to offer. Nestled in the heart of Horry County, just minutes from the stunning beaches of the Grand Strand, CMC provides the perfect backdrop for this crucial phase of your medical education.
Since establishing our partnership with Campbell University’s Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019, we’ve created a learning environment where students thrive through hands-on clinical experiences. Here, you’ll work directly with our experienced physicians who are passionate about teaching while serving our diverse community.

From our modern hospital facilities to our various specialty clinics, you’ll gain invaluable exposure to both routine and complex cases that will prepare you for whatever medical specialty you choose to pursue.
What makes rotations at CMC truly special is our commitment to your growth as both a physician and person. While you’ll certainly develop your clinical skills, you’ll also experience the unique rewards of practicing medicine in a community setting where work-life balance isn’t just talked about—it’s lived. After clinical hours, you might find yourself unwinding on our beautiful beaches, exploring historic Conway’s riverfront, or enjoying the vibrant local culture that makes our region so special.
We look forward to welcoming you to our medical family!
Rotations for Medical Students
Conway Medical Center has proudly served as a clinical site for the Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine since 2019. Our mission remains steadfast: to provide the best preparation possible for you to pursue a residency position in whatever field you choose. Rotations are faculty-led and primarily based on the Conway Medical Center main campus. Any off-campus rotations are within twenty to thirty minutes of the main campus and rarely require daily visits to the hospital.
Our established Family Medicine Residency Program, which began in July 2020, offers additional opportunities for interaction and education from both our Family Medicine Residency Faculty and the residents themselves. This creates a rich learning environment where medical students benefit from multiple layers of teaching and mentorship.
Having lived and practiced medicine here since 1982, I can assure you of the depth and breadth of the clinical experience available. Your medical experience here will expose you to the treatment of everything from the routine to the exotic. The human body’s responses to the conditions of life that produce health and disease are universal. Community hospitals like ours are now equipped to manage complex medical cases that once would have been referred elsewhere, providing you with comprehensive training opportunities.
Angela Allen, Medical Student Education Coordinator for Graduate Medical Education and I, along with our enthusiastic faculty, have created an experience designed to further your pursuit of your goals for the practice of medicine. Inquiries may be directed to Angela.Allen@cmc-sc.com
And of course, you should know, we are only about ten miles from the beautiful beaches of the Grand Strand – offering the perfect balance of professional growth and personal wellbeing.
