Key features of the expansion include:
- 8-bed emergency department designed to handle 10,000+ annual patient visits
- Shared state-of-the-art imaging services including CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, and MRI serving both emergency and outpatient needs
- 24/7 emergency care
- Seamless integration with existing ambulatory surgery center and outpatient clinics
- Space allocated for future expansion
The facility will enhance CMC’s existing services at CMC Health Plaza South through an innovative integrated care model. “This expansion will not only improve access to care but also create new job opportunities and contribute to the economic growth of our region,” added Argo. “We expect to create over 250 jobs through pre-construction, construction, and operational service to the community.”
Construction is set to begin soon, with an anticipated opening in October 2026. The project represents CMC’s ongoing commitment to expanding healthcare access in underserved locations and strengthening its presence in the competitive South Horry County market through innovative care delivery models.
