CMC Breaks Ground for New CMC Socastee Free-Standing Emergency Department
On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, Conway Medical Center, along with local officials, broke ground on a new free-standing emergency department at its CMC Health Plaza South location in the heart of Socastee.
State and local officials joined CMC leadership for the groundbreaking of this 12,150 square foot expansion with 8 beds. This will create the region’s first fully integrated medical plaza, combining emergency services with existing ambulatory surgery, outpatient clinics, and comprehensive imaging services to meet the growing healthcare needs of southern Horry County.
This $20.5 million expansion is expected to open in late 2026 and is expected to create over 250 jobs through pre-construction, construction, and operational service to the community.
This is one of two free-standing emergency departments CMC has in the works, with the other on Highway 90 at the intersection of Highway 22 that is expected to open in 2027.
